The Problem:

This project was part of an intensive 72 hour Netflix + Adobe Creative Jam. Netflix produces and distributes content from countries all over the globe. It’s the world’s leading streaming entertainment service with 183 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying tv series, documentaries and feature films across a wide variety of genres and languages. Adobe and Netflix teamed up to share a challenge directed towards college students. The challenge was this: to be creative while designing a desktop application that can be used to watch content and with family, friends and community.

Our particular challenge was to set our team apart from the other designers competing by targeting a clear and specific audience and catering our desktop app towards their needs.

The Solution:

We chose to target an audience of college students, ages 18-25. This particular age group is often displaced from their friends and family who may live in another state, or even country. Many students choose to attend an out-of-state college and as a result, may lose close contact with those important people in their lives. StreamSHARE would be a way for these students to remain connected to their loved ones while enjoying themselves as well. StreamSHARE is one part streaming service and one part social media. The ability to connect with others who have similar interests, meet new friends, and join a community is particularly appealing to this demographic with their obsession with Instagram, Twitter, and other social media platforms.
